Choluk Ataev

Choluk Ataev from the small Turkmen village of Bokurdak, along with his friends and cousin, went to the front as a volunteer.

He served as a machine gunner of the 1018th Rifle Regiment of the 269th Rifle Division of the First Belorussian Front under the command of Marshal K.K.Rokossovsky.

On the night, 21–22 July 1944, during the offensive operation “Bagration” to liberate Belarus while crossing the Dnieper tributary were killed 754 brave Soviet soldiers, including the machine gunner Choluk Ataev.
