UN General Assembly Adopts Resolution on Holding the Third LLDC Conference in Turkmenistan

On 11 April 2025, during its 63rd plenary meeting, the United Nations General Assembly adopted by consensus a resolution to convene the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3) in Turkmenistan.

According to the first operative paragraph, the Conference will be held in the city of Awaza from 5 to 8 August 2025, at the highest possible level, including participation of Heads of State and Government.
The second operative paragraph states that following the Conference, the Programme of Action for Landlocked Developing Countries for the Decade 2024–2034 will be renamed the Awaza Programme of Action for Landlocked Developing Countries for the Decade 2024–2034.
The resolution was adopted by consensus and co-sponsored by 57 Member States, highlighting broad international support for Turkmenistan as host and the importance of addressing development challenges faced by landlocked developing countries.
