Nurmyrat Sarykhanov

On May 4, 1944, near the village of Delakeu, the outstanding son of the Turkmen people, writer Nurmyrat Sarykhanov, who served in the 958th Order of the Bohdan Khmelnitsky Rifle Regiment, 299th Kharkov Rifle Division, folded his head in a severe battle for the liberation of Moldova from the Nazi invaders.

Bulat Mansurov’s film “Competition”, which became a classic of world cinema, was shot based on the work of N. Sarykhanov “Shukur Bakhshi”.

April 2017 in the Moldavian village of Delakeu, Novoanensky district, the Turkmen side thoroughly restored the memorial on the mass grave of soldiers who fell in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
