STRENGTHENING THE TURKMEN-PAKISTANI INTER-PARLIAMENTARY COOPERATION

Further strengthening of bilateral inter-parliamentary relations was an important topic of a telephone conversation held on October 31 between Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani.

Having warmly greeted each other, the interlocutors noted with satisfaction the high level of established constructive cooperation between the two states in various fields, which is largely due to the historical and cultural commonality that has been linking our friendly peoples since ancient times.

As stated, at present, Turkmenistan and Pakistan are actively cooperating in the political, diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

At the same time, both countries take an active part in major energy and communication projects being implemented in the region, including the construction of the transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India, as well as the laying of a high-voltage power line and fiber optic communication along the route Turkmenistan-Afghanistan- Pakistan.

In the general opinion, the successful implementation of these large-scale projects will give new impetus to the socio-economic and infrastructural development of the entire region, and will become the main factor for peace and sustainable development.

During the conversation, Hero-Arkadag noted that there are great opportunities for establishing and strengthening close inter-parliamentary ties. In this regard, great importance is given to the exchange of experience in the field of legislation through the intensification of cooperation between the law-making bodies of Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, as well as the organization of regular meetings and consultations of parliamentarians.

At the end of the telephone conversation, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani wished each other good health, happiness and success in responsible work, and peace, well-being and prosperity to the fraternal peoples of the two friendly countries.
