POLITICAL CONSULTATIONS AT THE LEVEL OF DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTERS OF TURKMENISTAN AND THE REPUBLIC OF TAJIKISTAN

On November 10, 2022, political consultations were held in Ashgabat between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tajikistan. The delegation of Turkmenistan was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs V. Hajyiev, the delegation of Tajikistan - by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sadyk Imom.

During the consultations, the development of political and diplomatic dialogue between the two countries was discussed, the importance of regular contacts at the highest level was emphasized. Mutually acceptable cooperation was noted within the framework of regional and international structures, in particular the UN.

The effectiveness of the partnership between the foreign ministries was emphasized. In this regard, the diplomats highly appreciated the level of cooperation within the framework of the current Program of Cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries. Issues related to the improvement of the legal framework of bilateral relations were also considered.

The state of trade, economic and investment cooperation was analyzed. The parties stressed the need to improve the conditions conducive to the further development of trade, economic and investment ties, including the issues of increasing export-import operations, expanding the range of goods and services provided.

The parties discussed cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian areas. The positive experience of interaction in the field of healthcare, education, and science was emphasized. Mutual interest in organizing cultural and scientific exchanges was expressed.

In frames of the visit, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov. During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of Turkmen-Tajik cooperation, as well as touched upon international and regional issues, which are of mutual interest.
