Today, on April 22, 2020, there was a telephone conversation between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan E.Mammadyarov. During that meeting, a wide range of topical issues related to further reinforcement of the traditionally friendly relations between two states was discussed.

First of all, sides pointed out the need for implementation of the bilateral agreements between President of Turkmenistan G.M.Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan I.G.Aliyev reached during the official visit of the head of Turkmen state to Baku on 11 March 2020.

In particular, sides underlined the special significance of bilateral cooperation in the field of transport and communications. Direct maritime link in the Caspian Sea between the seaports of Turkmenbashi and Alat is a major element in terms of the development of trade and economic relations throughout the Eurasian continent. Diplomats noted the high efficiency of the interaction in the field of transport and accentuated their attention on the ways how to search and introduce the new forms of a partnership aimed at the provision of high-performance operation of the transport corridors East-West.

In this context, ministers agreed to maintain regular contacts between foreign policy agencies of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.
