COOPERATION OF TURKMENISTAN WITH UNESCO IS ENHANCED WITH NEW CONTENT

During the period of February 11-12, 2021, online meetings were held in the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between the Executive Secretary of the National Commission for UNESCO of Turkmenistan Chynar Rustemova and the Officer-in-Charge of UNESCO Tehran Cluster Office Cvetan Cvetkovski, as well as the Director of   UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office Krista Pikkat.

During the meetings, the parties noted with satisfaction the high level of cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNESCO. The current issues of collaboration, as well as the plans for the upcoming period, were regarded.  In particular, the Draft Memorandum on Cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and UNESCO for 2021-2023 was considered, including the relevant Plan of Actions. 

The Turkmen side has proposed to expand the cooperation with UNESCO in such vital spheres as statistics, water management, digital technologies, and sport. It was stated that the leadership of Turkmenistan pays special attention to the development of activities in the given fields which stand as important segments of sustainable development on the national, regional, and international levels.  

As known, one of the priorities of the international agenda of Turkmenistan is the overall expansion of collaboration between our country and UNESCO. This organization plays a key role in the preservation of the worldwide cultural and natural heritage of humankind. Turkmenistan actively contributes to this process. The representative lists of UNESCO retain unique objects and phenomena of material and spiritual culture of Turkmen people.
