TRILATERAL MEETING OF THE HEADS OF THE FOREIGN POLICY AGENCIES OF TURKMENISTAN, AZERBAIJAN AND TURKEY HELD IN ANKARA

On February 23, 2021, the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov, Jeyhun Bayramov, and Mevlüt Çavuşoglu was held in the Turkish capital within the framework of the trilateral format of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey.

The parties confirmed the existence of large potential of the multilateral dialogue in fuel-energy, trade-economic, and transport-logistics spheres as well as in high technology areas.

The diplomats considered the questions of the realization of the agreed agreements; in particular, they discussed the need to intensify interaction on the “Lapis Lazuli” corridor.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan called this meeting “historic” and especially underlined that the given mechanism comprehensively promotes the building up of positive dynamics of the development of cooperation.

As the head of the MFA of Turkey said, the given trilateral format of the partnership between three brotherly and friendly countries contributes significantly to the prosperity and stability of the whole region.

In his turn, the head of the foreign policy agency of Azerbaijan especially noted the significance and timeliness of the signing of the Memorandum between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan on joint exploration, development, and completion of the hydrocarbon resources of the “Dostluk” field in the Caspian Sea, which opens new broad horizons in light of increase mutual understanding and cooperation in the sphere of energy on a regional level.

Following the outcome of the 5th meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan Republic, and the Republic of Turkey the Joint Statement was signed.
