A meeting with the delegation of the Russian Federation held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan

On 28th of January, 2016 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan there were the talks with the delegation of the Russian Federation headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit.

Within the framework of the meeting the parties held interested dialogue on the further intensification of the Turkmen-Russian cooperation, which is dynamically developing on a long-term and equitable manner, taking into account previous agreements at the highest level, aimed at strengthening and development of strategic partnership between the two countries. In this context, particular attention of the parties has been given to further strengthening and development of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in political, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian fields. They also discussed issues of cooperation in the spheres of energy and transport.

Special attention of the parties was paid to the issues of regional cooperation in Central Asia, to assistance to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and to the Caspian issues.

Following the meeting, the parties signed a Program of cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation in 2016.
